🚀 How I Got 5.492 Followers on Twitter in 9 Months
At the beginning of this year, I wanted to be more active on Twitter.
The reason for that was primarily to get some leads for my software development company.
I already had some followers there because I was active on Twitter back in 2016–2017, but I can’t remember the exact number.
Over the last 30 days, I’ve gained around 500 followers, and I hope that trend will continue at this rate.

#1 I Began on the Wrong Path ❌
I was using ChatGPT to create a few tweets for me, it gave me ideas, and I started posting them.
My goal was to add some content, but those tweets felt like they were AI-generated.
They were generic and boring, which was my first mistake.
The second mistake was that I didn't rewrite them, I posted them exactly as ChatGPT provided.
Don’t ever use it this way.
People want to learn from others and their experiences, not some generic text from ChatGPT that they can easily Google.
It’s all about building authority and connections with other folks there.
#2 Experimenting with Following Other Accounts ❌
That was another mistake of mine. I was randomly following people, thinking they would follow me back.
While this can work, you shouldn’t follow randomly.
You should follow people who you believe will find your content interesting. Otherwise, you’ll have many followers who don’t engage with your content.
If you’ve ever seen accounts with thousands of followers but only 2–3 likes on their tweets, they’re likely following the wrong people using this strategy.
Now, my approach is like this. I follow people who I believe will find my content useful. I don’t just follow them in hopes they will follow me back (though many do).
I follow them because I want to engage with their content.
It’s clear we have similar interests.
#3 Sharing My Personal Journey âś…
This was the moment when my profile took off. While I was following people who run businesses or have an interest in entrepreneurship.
At the same time, I was tweeting about my experiences and challenges I faced while growing a company to 7 figures.
People loved that.
They were commenting, sharing, messaging me, etc. I was surprised by how engaged my profile became, and I was proud that so many people believed I had valuable content to share.
Before this, I had stopped using ChatGPT and began posting tweets that I wrote myself.
#4 Building Genuine Connections, Not Just Followers âś…
The real kick-off came when I started engaging with other people there. I was commenting on their posts and chatting with them in the inbox.
Those same people did the same with my content, and my content began to gain a much larger reach.
Today, I have 5,492 followers, and my tweets are getting between 1,500 and 10,000 views.
As a result, I regularly receive calls from potential leads who would like to work with me.
I truly believe that this community is a gold mine for leads.
Try it.
đź‘‹ Hi, I am Alen
A bit about me...
6 years ago, I founded a company - Async Labs.
I've since grown it from an idea to a 7-figure business.
Expanding our team from just me to 35 team members.
Then sold it.
Now, I’m sharing everything I learned.
Every mistake I made...
